DENBY DALE LADIES' CHOIR

Denby Dale Ladies’ Choir is a three-part ensemble of around 40 voices. Their varied repertoire is always growing and includes classical, traditional, jazz, showtime and modern pieces. They love singing and their track record of festival success proves it’s possible to blend achievement with real fun!

EMLEY DRAMA GROUP

An incredibly talented (oh, yes we are!) bunch of enthusiastic amateurs who usually put on a play during the spring and autumn half-terms - and the occasional murder-mystery evening when asked. Comedy, farce, drama, thrillers. Recent productions include Hay Fever, See How They Run, Breezeblock Park, Strangers on a Train. New members on or off stage always welcome. We are a brass band for young people who enjoy playing in a brass band with other young people. We meet from 7:30 on Thursday evening at Shelley Methodist Church hall. The band membership is usually around 30 players and we are always looking for new members to replace those inevitably leave when they reach the age of 18. Shepley Band is the largest self-funded wind band in West Yorkshire, with fifty amateur musicians from all walks of life.

SKELMANTHORPE BAND

Formed in 1843, the Skelmanthorpe Band is one of the oldest brass bands in the country. In recent years the band has shared the stage with a number of top celebrity guests including West End star tenor Alfie Boe, New Zealander Hayley Westenra, teenage singing sensation Faryl Smith, Britain’s Got Talent winner, Paul Potts and Kimber’s Men. The band produced a fine performance at the Yorkshire Area Regional Contest 2013, and celebrated a superb result being placed 7th in the company of some of the world’s top brass bands.

SKELMANTHORPE MALE VOICE CHOIR

The choir was formed in 1934 and has continued its proud tradition of having fun and enjoyment through singing. Over the years the membership has been drawn from a wider geographical area which now extends to Huddersfield, Wakefield and Barnsley.
